Tilbury Green Power
Tilbury Green Power, a wholly owned subsidiary of Express Energy, given the green light by Ed Miliband, Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, under Section 36 of the Electricity Act 1989, for its plans to generate electricity from biomass on a vacant site on Tilbury Docks.
The 60 MWe power station will generate enough electricity to power the equivalent of some100,000 homes and will be fuelled from renewable sources not from fossil fuels. It will use a combination of renewable fuels such as biomass (wood chippings and waste wood) and solid recovered fuel (derived from various sources.) It is anticipated that the power station will be operational in 2012.
