Partnerships
Express Energy is developing a portfolio of biomass and energy recovery facilities in the UK with the aim of delivering 250MWe of gross capacity. Our projects will generate electricity from a range of fuels including:
- Recovered wood
- Solid recovered fuel (SRF) manufactured from commercial and household waste
- Biomass - biological matter derived from plant material (such as wood from forestry, bark, energy crops, sawdust, agricultural reisdues, etc).
The UK Government is committed to increasing the proportion of energy we use from renewable sources because there is a growing need to produce energy in ways that reduce our reliance on fossil fuels. In order to do this it has introduced a range of legislation and incentives for low carbon energy production including:
- The 2009 Renewable Energy Directive which sets a target for the United Kingdom to achieve 15% of its energy consumption from renewable sources by 2020. In order to achieve the target a range of economic incentives has been introduced (Renewables Obligation Certificates, Feed in Tariffs, Renewable Heat Incentive) with the aim of ensuring that renewable energy technologies can compete economically with fossil fuel projects.
- The EU Landfill Directive which requires the UK to significantly reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill. The introduction of the Landfill Tax provides an incentive for projects to offer alternatives to waste disposal at landfill.
Express Energy is interested in discussing strategic partnerships with key players in a variety of markets including:
